3M makes organic vapor respirator cartridges to help decrease user exposure to many different organic vapors. To achieve this objective, respirator cartridges are full with a material called activated carbon. Activated carbon is classically made from coal or renewable resources like wood or coconut shells.
Organic vapors naturally refer to liquids that evaporate rapidly (hence giving off vapors) and are petroleum based… a few example are solvents in paint, nail polish remover, gasoline, and that smell from permanent markers.

Weight: Not weigh more than 110 gms each with the entire loaded face piece weight
not exceed 300 gms
Construction: The cartridge must be durable in nature to ensure no leak of activated carbon When worn
Protection Factors: The cartridges assemblies should be used up to NIOSH approval limits, 10 times PEL for half face piece or 50 times for full-face piece or the maximum.
